Trystan Hawkins,  Artistic Director of Zest Arts
gives an overview of the work they do with children in the Plymouth NHS Trust.

Peter Smith, Administrative Director, Wolf+Water Arts Company will talk about the work that the company has been doing with children with life threatening illnesses & their families, and also some of the projects that they have run with young people in post-conflict communities.

Presentation by Ellie Malone , Education & Learning Officer (for Children & Young People) Arts Council England South West – an overview of regional policy, latest developments and opportunities for arts and health work with children and young people. Download notes

Ruth Jacobs, Arts Co-ordinator at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children will give an overview of the Arts Programme at the hospital concentrating on the involvement of children and young people, and discussing selected highs and lows of 2008. Download presentation

ArtCare at Salisbury District Hospital is making sure that the design of the new Children's Unit to be opened in 2010 is based on advice from the experts: the children themselves, and their parents. ArtCare manager Peter Ursem will talk about 'No Worries!’ a project to take children serious and involve them - through a website survey and creative workshops in schools - in developing the right hospital environment for them. A choice of breakout sessions:

  • Julia Dunn, MusicSpace Trust will demonstrate the life of a music therapist and how music can contribute to a child’s healing. Experience first-hand the therapeutic qualities of music through playing music together in this fun workshop.
  • Catherine Lamont-Robinson and Helen Jury will lead hands on clay session to demonstrate how direct engagement in the creative process can support and develop perception, sensory integration and cognitive processing.
